Breaking the Law

It is still one of my favourite Judas Priest songs
And am old enough to remeber it on release
With its cheesy video of the a band robbing a bank
And heading out to Hammersmith with ease
Years later it was immortalised in cartoon form
With Beavis and Butt-Head singing along
You couldn't demerit their taste in music at all
As they did their air guitar to that classic song
Every time I've seen a clip of the song live
The audience absolutely go mental for it
With Rob Halford leading them all along
Breaking the what? He would ask them to do it
There's something just so wholesome
About that two and a half minutes of metal
That it defines just how good songwriting can be
No matter who does it in fine fettle.

(Still an absolute metal anthem this.)

Four in a Row

It had never been done before
In the history of English football
One side would win the top division
Four times on the trot in all
And yet as the season progressed
I didn't think that we would do it for one
There were too many times
That we didn't win when we could have done
A boring nil nil draw against Arsenal
Seems to have scuppered things a bit
And yet as we kept winning and pressuring
It was down to them to do their bit
It just needed one slip up to happen
And at home against Villa it then did
We knew we still had to win all our games
But it was in our own hands, the title bid
And so with the last game of the season
And a win against West Ham United
We had done the four in a row now
And that made me feel pretty delighted
Can we make it five next time?
Not so sure that would happen in truth
But I've said that before about my team
So let's wait and see what they prove.

(I still can't believe that my beloved Manchester City went and did four league titles in a row this month. That was some effort and fair play to Arsenal who did push us all the way and make it hard going.)

Belgravia in Bloom

Walking through from Victoria
And heading towards Belgravia
Shows me how posh the place is
But yet there is a calm sense here
With all the flower displays in bloom
That feels like it was made yesterday
And the fresh smell of the flowers
Makes all my troubles seem small
There is a sense of belonging here
With the freshness in the air
From a chess board piece
To a snakes and ladders board
Everything is so well sculpted
And the crowds are quieter and nicer
Than they are at Sloane Square
So definitely for me, the better day.

(Belgravia in Bloom is quieter and nicer than Chelsea in Bloom, less idiot tourists and nicer people all round, and better displays too I should add.)

If I Had £1 Million

If I had a million pounds
I'd donate a lot to charities
That I would care about a lot
If I had a millon pounds
I'd end up with threats and letters
From parasites seeking to harm me
If I had a million pounds
I'd want to see the local kids hospice
Being able to afford the unit they need
If I had a million pounds
My bank account would be targeted
I couldn't walk the streets alone
If I had a million pounds
I'd ask the Lotto people for no publicity
And escape the media hype
If I had a million pounds
The media would find out anyway
And so make my life hell
If I had a million pounds
At least I'd be rich for once
And I could do what I liked
If I had a million pounds
I'd be burgled constantly
And my CD collection would be gone
If I had a million pounds
I wouldn't have a care in the world
But I don't think it's going to happen.

(I got the idea for this when listening to the Barenaked Ladies song "If I had $1,000,000" (which is really twee and well worth a listen) but decided to give a twist with the negative trying to outweigh the positive in the thought processes throughout. And not make it American.)

Birthday Cat Haiku

Brian knows it's time
To wish me happy birthday
Lets me have a hug.

(Brian the cat must know something and allowed me lots of fusses and hugs on my birthday, aww bless)
